aisle walking
It's always interesting to read that a lot of churches are just starting to use this method. I go to Emmanuel and I've grown up with these things. I don't think it is necessary to walk the aisle to have Jesus be your Savior, it just sort of shows others that you've received Him, or you want people to help you out with your new relationship with God. I'm sure that alter calls can be hard for some to do, because everyone is staring at you as you walk up to the pastor. That would make me uncomfortable.

glee
It's always interesting to discover other people's views on religion, whether it's accurate or not. It was probably hard for the actors to portray their faith for their characters role if it was different from their real life beliefs. I didn't enjoy when Fen though that he could pray to a grilled cheese sandwich and all his dreams would come true. Probably my favorite part was when Mercedes invited Kurt to her church and had everyone pray for him and his dad, and sang a incredibly moving song. I liked the concept of all the kids in glee club to sing religious melodies. It kind of seemed towards the end that cheerleading coach started to come around and not mind everyone wanting to sing faith related songs.
This was the first episode of Glee I have ever seen. I may never watch it again, but if I'm flipping through the channels and it's on, I may watch it until a commercial comes on.

retaliation
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, 'Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn him to the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have you cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles." -Matthew 5:38-41
This means that you shouldn't be so quick to respond to others. Think about what they are saying, if they're trying to be helpful to you or trying to hurt you. If they are trying to hurt you on purpose, maybe you should just be as kind as you can and walk away. We shouldn't be so selfish about stupid things. We have to be able to help others and be giving too. I know that I definately need to work on turning the other cheek.

happy halloween
I believe in celebrating Halloween. I know many people can think it means a devils holiday, but I have never really thought of it that way. It surprised me that it has been transformed from a Pagan tradition. My church preached over that same story last Sunday and it was pretty neat.
I enjoy dressing up and gathering candy from strangers each year. I just wish that others could join in with the same mindset as me and not misuse, or abuse this holiday of good, clean fun.

special olympics
We went bowling today as volunteers. We helped adults bowl and have fun. I personally had a fun time during this experience. I met alot of people that were really funny and had many funny stories to tell. These adults weren't afraid to tell you what they were thinking or how they felt. No matter how they bowled, it didn't effect their attitude much. I really enjoyed it when I saw them high five each other or cheer for the one bowling, even when they really had no idea who they were. They were very inviting towards others and to me helping them.
My group was an exciting group. Weston, Philip, Steve, and Conell. Weston was pretty quiet but loved to pat my head, blew me kisses, and call me cry baby for no reason. He also told me I was his girlfriend. Philip liked to stand on the slick part of the lane and make me tell him not to and he hugged me. Steve was the cheerer of the group. Conell, he was the best bowler around. He started out with two strikes and had a nice bowling technique that worked for him.
I connected with my other shared lane too. Lamar McKane. He's the funniest man alive. He told me and Kelsey many stories about his girlfriends, he had twelve, and his family and his sisters. Lamar questioned us what he wanted for his birthday, he wanted us. He thought Kelsey and I looked like twin barbie dolls from television, and I also looked like one of his girlfriends.
These human-beings aren't given many opportunities to do regular stuff that we take for granted everyday. Why am I given these privilages? I should be more thankful. I'm glad I was able to attend this event and help those guys.

andy braner
I really enjoyed having Andy lead our spiritual empahsis week. Unfourtunately, I missed two of his sessions. Something that stood out was to put your faith into action. I have times where I am so confident in Jesus and I'll do anything for him and there are times where I don't feel like going out and sharing His word.
BELIEVE? If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved -Romans 10:9. He shared that and how Mr. Hawkings doesn't believe there is a God, and how science can't prove that there is. Hawkings is a large inpact on other scientists which will be harder to share God's word with those people.
On another day we talked about behaving and having rules for a reason. Set no vile things before your eyes -Pslam 101:3. We need to ask ourselves if what we are watching on television or listening to on the radio is the best for us.
I am glad Andy came and spoke to us. I learned to think deeper about certain things and that will help me now and in the future.

friends
I want my friends to be honest with me. Even if it hurts sometimes, I need it. I also want them to be trustworthy. I have to be able to trust my friends with whatever I'm going through for them to either support me or just be there for me. My friends need to be able to understand my sarcasm or learn to take a joke once and a while.
I have been known to get a little rough with some of my friends, and sometimes I go to far. I wish to control my urge of hurtful sarcasm and crossing the boundaries between joking around and hurting their feelings.
I know people that go to other schools but none that I would consider a close friend. Probably the closest to friends that I have from other schools are from my club volleyball seasons when we had only three OBA girls on the team and we had to bond with other girls.

Slow Dancing in a Burning Room
It appears that John Mayer is having some trouble with his woman. They loved each other at one point and it is now coming to an end. He portrays her as not really caring that he is so broken and that he wants her to feel some kind of emotion towards this. He thinks she's just trying to hurt him because she doesn't understand or feel the same way he is.
I think the title, slow dancing in a burning room, means that their relationship is slowly ending, like a building on fire, and in a slow dance song, you don't really want it to end if you love the person you're dancing with.
John asks, "don't you think we oughta know by know?" Which I take it as they've had similar problems in the past and that they should've know that something would've happened again.

Husband
The most important quality that I am looking for in my future husband is Christianity. If he is truly a Christian, all the other desireable qualities will come with that, such as leadership, trustworthy, and honest.
I want to be able to rely on him through anything and know that he will be there. I want him to be loving and caring. Preferably taller than myself, but if he's the one, I'll let it slide.

Gendercide
Gendercide is gender-selective mass killing. This process is happening often in India and China and many third-world countries today. It is targeting the female gender because the people in these countries don't believe that girls aren't worth as much as the males.
In India, it is not considered a sin, but a wise choice. If they did not get an abortion, they practically tortured their baby. Some were fed unhulled rice, which punctured their windpipes or were forced to swallow poisonous powdered fertilizer. Others were smothered by a wet towel, strangled, or allowed to starve to death.
These people don't know what God has done for them or how everyone is made in His image. We need to help them realize this and pray for them. An unborn baby is the same as a born baby.
